Q: What is London Baggage?
A: London Baggage is the worldwide leader for the international removal of personal effects. We are a move management company specialised in household baggage transfer and household removals worldwide. Our services tailored for each public’s needs: students, professionals, companies, leisure, business and family travellers, UK residents and citizens.

Q: Can I ship my baggage to/from anywhere in the world?
A: The shipment services that we deliver have a worldwide cover: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, United States and the rest of the world. If your origin/destination is not included in our tariff, please contact us, giving us as much information as possible, for a specific quotation for your shipment.

Q: Does London Baggage have offices abroad?
A: No, where possible, we work with personally vetted and approved agents in all other countries. With a unique in-house expertise means and a tight control quality of your relocation services, through our network of airport and seaport agent’s offices you are able to access the air freight services at the most competitive prices.

When you choose London Baggage’s services you gain free packing cartons delivered & collected from your address, monitoring the progress of your personal effects, free storage for one month prior to sending overseas.

SHIPMENT
Q: What types of non-baggage items can I ship?
A: London-Baggage ship items that can not fit into the carton boxes, such as TV set, computer, snowboard, surf board, skis, mountain bike, furniture, golf clubs (with/without trolley), guitar (and other musical instruments). We will also ship and store small items of furniture, such as chairs, coffee table or items that can be dismantled or flat packed.

Q: Does London Baggage ship commercial goods?
A: No, sorry, we cannot ship commercial goods (for eventual sale or profit) and livestock.

Q: Do you have any restricted items that I cannot ship?
A: Yes, any item that you could not carry or check on as an airplane passenger applies to London Baggage as well. We cannot accept any restricted commodities in our shipments. This includes: hazardous goods, corrosives, flammable material, consumer electronic devices, guns, drugs and poisons, radioactive material and gases, perishables, tobacco and cigarettes and of course pets and all that we can not store in a box.

Q: Is there any weight restriction with sea freight?
A: No weight limits are applied on ocean freight shipments. However, all items should, unless previously agreed with us, be suitable for being handle by one man. Surcharges will apply to items that require more than one man to handle them. We must be informed about such items in advance. When packing multiple cartons it is essential to distribute the weight evenly. Overloaded items are much more susceptible to damage in transit.

Q: Can I have my baggage picked up from multiple locations and dropped off at the same location?
A: Yes. We can pick up your shipment from multiple locations, please contact us regarding the documentation procedure.

PACKING
Q: Can London Baggage pack for me or do I have to do my own packing?
A: Yes, we can do so for an extra fee. You can send your own baggage, bags, boxes or suitcases, unpacked items are accepted, but we recommend that you use our free-charged chemically hardened boxes.

Q: How long can I keep the boxes for?
A: When we supply boxes, cartons or packing materials, they may be retained by you indefinitely, upon payment of a minimum deposit of GBP 50.00. Please bear in mind that cartons and packing materials remain our property until your shipment is paid for in full.

Q: Do we have to use London Baggage cartons or can we use our own?
A: Yes, you can. We are happy to accept any strong/good quality carton or case. Please remember that cartons should be at least of thick double wall strength.
But be sure they are not old, and in good condition. In case of TV Set, Computer, Snowboard, Surf Board, Skis, Mountain Bike, Furniture, Golf Clubs, we recommend to be packed in their own manufacturer’s boxes.

Q: Can I seal the cartons?
A: Cartons should be sealed by owners prior to dispatch. However, they may then be re-opened at the complete discretion of London Baggage, for security purposes only. All shipments sent by air are subject to security checks and/or x-ray examination, which may involve a search.
You simply pack and seal, read the packing instructions which are printed on the flap of each carton. It is important to supply the precise information to make sure your carton boxes are addressed properly and correctly identified. Do not forget to label. A label should be attached securely to all items that are being handled by London Baggage.

Q: Does my baggage/goods need to be packaged or wrapped?
A: We provide free-charged carton boxes for you to pack your things, we recommend you to do so, but you also can ship your own baggage, bags, boxes or suitcases. Unpacked items are accepted, but we recommend that you use our chemically hardened boxes.

STORE
Q: Can London Baggage store goods?
A: We provide comprehensive storage facilities worldwide. Rates vary according to amount of storage required, length of deposit, and location. We also operate a number of airport terminal left luggage and locker facilities. This service is provided on a subscription basis, offering you an address in London, England.

Q: How long can you store my boxes for me?
A: We offer 4 weeks free storage within our fully secure facilities, which are monitored by a 24 hour digital security system. Beyond that we can store your boxes for the time need it.

Q: Where do you store my goods?
A: We store your goods in our secure facilities in Wembley

Q: What can I find in your services that distinguish you from the other removal companies?

PICK UP and DELIVERY
Q: Can I have my baggage picked up or delivered on the weekends?
A: We operate between 07:00-18:00 Monday-Friday and 07:00-13:00 on Saturdays. Out of hours collections are often possible depending on your location. Please contact us if you need assistance.

Q: Does London Baggage have after-hours deliveries?
A: Our airport facilities are open 7 days a week; in some cases on a 24 hour basis. You can deliver shipments directly to any of these facilities. Please contact the facility concerned for details of opening hours.

Q: Can my bags be picked up if I am not at home?
A: Domestically, we can arrange for a local pick up from your door or porch (if you are not home) for an extra fee, you just have to indicate the precise address in your booking request and the date and time preferred.
We will contact you for us to schedule with you the pick up.

Q: Can I bring my goods into a London Baggage office?
A: All our offices accept personal deliveries. If the shipment is large or complicated, please inform in advance so that we can prepare to deal with your baggage. We offer a nominal discount of GBP 5 (USD 8) on office deliveries.

Q: How will I be contacted at destination?
A: For ocean freight shipments you will normally be contacted prior to arrival by our chosen agents. We notify agents well in advance of the arrival of shipments, and all documents etc are sent by DHL or other approved courier. Our foreign agents can arrange Customs clearance and local delivery, if not already set up with us at the time of shipment. They can also provide storage facilities, if required, at reasonable cost. For air shipments, our agents, or in some cases the airline carrier will notify you on arrival, where possible, by telephone. It is essential that we receive either a telephone, fax or email address so that they can contact you as soon as possible. Storage charges are levied by airlines and air freight agents on uncollected shipments. These can be expensive compared to storage charges levied on uncollected ocean freight consignments.

Q: What information can you give me on how my shipment is progressing in transit?
A: Our state-of-the-art SQL computer system gives full details on the status of all shipments in transit and incorporates the latest information as soon as it is available to us. If you prefer we can also give you that information by phone, fax or email.

TRANSIT TIMES
Q: How long will my baggage take to get to my destination?
A: Transit Times vary depending on destination, customs, routing, volumes, weather conditions and many variable factors. Although we do not guarantee transit times, as rule for intercontinental sea shipments allow 8-12 weeks and air freight shipments can take between 14 to 20 days depending on the destination and the level of service chosen.

Q: When can you deliver cartons & packing materials and collect my baggage?
A: This can be achieved in major markets (UK, Republic of Ireland, Western Europe, North America, Australia, NZ, parts of SE Asia, RSA) at 24-48 hours notice.

PRICES
Q: How much will it cost?
A: We offer competitive rates and a quality service and you can choose the most convenient form of payment.
For example, we offer low cost monthly storage fees and reasonable priced pickup and delivery.

Q: Will London Baggage match a quote that I have received from another company?
A: When it is possible, we will endeavour to match prices, providing that the company is also a fully bonded member of BAR and Overseas.
Be careful with the non-bonded operators that may provide cheaper rates, but after your cargo is stranded you may need to pay a very large sum of money to have it released.

Q: How can I pay?
A: For your convenience, we offer several payment options: all major Credit Cards: VISA, Mastercard or American Express, Switch or Delta cards, cash payments at our UK Main Offices, Postal Order, Travellers’ Cheque Bankers Draft or Transfer and Cheque. We regret that we cannot accept Cash-On-Delivery shipments.

Q: Does the cost include Shipment Protection?
A: No, we recommend you do our Extra Standard Liability in other to protect your items against major risks of loss or damage. Our Standard Liability scheme offers protection to the full destination replacement value of your shipment, ALL RISK COVER and TOTAL LOSS COVER. The cover begins from the receipt of goods until delivery to your residence, airport or port.
Standard Liability protection covering Owner Packed belongings is available at a rate of 5% of the full destination replacement value as indicated by you on the Valuation Form we provide you with.

Q: Do London Baggage offer student discounts?
A: We offer the most competitive rates and quality service. Our services aim to excellence and are tailored to meet the needs of the student community.

Q: What duty or tax will I pay, if any?
A: Duties vary widely according to origin and destination. In many cases goods owned and used for at least 6/12 months are non dutiable. Likewise, if shipping within the European Union, goods are normally in free circulation and therefore not dutiable.
Please bear in mind it is your responsibility to ensure that you abide by the rules and regulations of the country that you are sending your goods to (or receiving from).

Q. Do I get a discount if I bring my goods to a London Baggage office?
A: All our offices accept personal deliveries. If the shipment is large or complicated, please inform in advance so that we can prepare to deal with your baggage. We offer a nominal discount of GBP 5 (USD 8) on office deliveries.

Q. What charges do I have to pay at destination on an arrival seaport/airport service?
A: Our door-to-door charges include the prepayment of destination port/airport unloading, Customs clearance, and delivery charges to your residence overseas. Door-to-port expressly excludes these services at destination and so it is less expensive. If you send your goods by air and send them to arrival airport only, nominal charges will be due to destination agents for unloading and handling.

Q: How will I be billed?
A: You will receive an electronic invoice around 24hrs - 48hrs after we do the pick up

Q: How is the service priced?
A: Each shipment is individually priced based on certain volume or weigh/volumetric weight which depends on the shipping service you have chosen.

Q: Is there anything else to pay at destination?
A: If you send your consignment on our door-to-door service there is normally nothing else to pay at destination. For the most part of the shipments door-to-door, there will be absolutely nothing extra to pay (with the exception of normal Customs duty where applicable). In certain countries, e.g. Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, there may be Government charges for inspections.
If you send your baggage to port or airport only, then our service will be terminating at the port, you will be responsible for local unloading, clearance changes at the port. These vary according to destination, contact us for more information.
